'Savdhaan India' and 'Crime Patrol' are popular crime series that can be found in practically every Indian home.
Now comes the stunning news that two women who have appeared in these shows have been detained.
Surabhi Surendra Lal Srivastava (25) and Mosina Mukhtar Sheikh (19), according to India Today, were allegedly arrested by Mumbai police on June 18 (Friday) in connection with a robbery case.
Both these actors left from a building in the Royal Palm Area of Aarey Colony where they were living on May 18 after allegedly taking Rs 3,28,000 from the locker of a woman who was also staying as a paying guest in the same accommodation, according to Mumbai police.
The woman, who had been robbed of her savings, had filed a complaint with the Aarey Police Station, alleging that Surabhi and Mukhtar had taken her money. During the inquiry, the police captured the two actresses leaving the building with the cash, according to the article. Surabhi and Mosina then broke down and confessed to their crime when being interrogated by police after seeing the CCTV footage.
According to Mumbai police, they were having cash difficulties after shootings for TV series were halted owing of the Covid-19-induced shutdown.
The cops are said to have seized Rs 50,000 from them. While they were brought before the court, they are expected to be held in police custody until June 23.
