Raj Thackeray (born 14 June 1968 in Mumbai) is an Indian politician, cartoonist, and orator who founded the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in March 2006, after leaving Shiv Sena. He is the nephew of Shiv Sena's founder, Bal Thackeray and studied at the Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art. Raj Thackeray started his career as a cartoonist with Marmik and later entered politics by establishing the Shiv Sena's student wing, Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena.
