Akshay Kumar, born September 9, 1967, in Amritsar, Punjab, is India's bankable and most versatile star. A Rajput-Sikh by caste and Punjabi by tongue, Akshay was raised in Mumbai in a middle-class joint family. His father was an army man, Late Hari Om Bhatia and his mother was a homemaker, Aruna Bhatia. He has one sister, Alka Bhatia.
Educated at Guru Nanak Khalsa College and Don Bosco School, Akshay quit school to do martial arts and modelling.
