Alakh Pandey, better known as Alakh Sir, is the distinguished educator, businessman and visionary founder of Physics Wallah (PW), one of India's most successful Edtech platforms. He was born on October 2, 1991 in Prayagraj, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Although Alahu came from very modest roots, it has become a symbol of education across the country. In 2025, he continues to try to achieve good quality at a reasonable price.

Early Life and Education
Alakh Pandey was born in a bourgeois family and his family has been suffering from financial difficulties since childhood. His father, Satish Pandi, was an employee of a private company, and his mother, Rajat Pandi, was a teacher of the profession. There is also a sister named Aditi Pandey, an engineer. Alakh was fascinated by science and mathematics at the school of Bishop Johnson School in Prayagraj. When his family needed financial help, he began teaching younger children, even when he was in class 8.


He studied mechanical engineering at Harcourt Butler Institute of Technology (HBTU) in Kanpur, but soon found out that his passion was teaching. He left university in his third year and pursued this call in full.

Career 
In 2016, Alakh launched his YouTube channel Physik Wallah with several resources, including a whiteboard and a simple phone. His concise and understandable teachings quickly became people's hearts. In 2020, Alakh and Prateek Maheshwari launched the Physics Wallah app and website, offering cheap courses such as Jee, Neet, UPSC and more. PW has brought high training to less than 5,000 million. By 2022, PW India's first US$1 billion Edtech Unicorn was profitable. Alakh continues to grow from PW products in 2025, building offline coaching centres and fighting for education reform with low GST to learn AIDS and more state spending for education.

Controversy
Alaf's journey was not without controversy. In 2023, three of the top teachers finished with PW and later launched competing platforms. Alakh was once again in the spotlight in 2024, petitioning the Supreme Court with a petition for the bounty policy of NEET 2024, which attempted national testing practices in the public.

Personal life and pure value
Alakh married writer and journalist Shivani Dubey in February 2023. He has been successful, but he lives a modest life. It is estimated to be $450 billion (USD 550 million) since 2025, with a monthly income of around Rs 40 trillion, which is primarily derived from YouTube and the coaching business. There are luxury cars such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW 5 Series, and Ford EcoSport.

The Alakh platform is used by millions of students preparing for competitive tests. Some PW teachers were his students.
His YouTube channel has subscribed to over 13.2 million people and has 1.6,000 videos.
He is still a strong voice in the debate on education policy.
