### Early Life

Kareena Kapoor Khan, affectionately known as ‘Bebo,’ was born on 21 September 1980 in Mumbai. She is the younger daughter of famous actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita, and her elder sister, Karisma Kapoor, is also a renowned actress. Hailing from a prestigious Bollywood family, her paternal grandfather is the legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, and her maternal grandfather is actor Hari Shivdasani. Through her great-grandfather, she is connected to the iconic Prithviraj Kapoor. Her family tree also includes well-known actors like Rishi Kapoor, her uncle, and Ranbir Kapoor, her cousin.

Kareena's name was inspired by the novel "Anna Karenina," which her mother read during her pregnancy. She has a diverse heritage, with Punjabi Hindu roots from her father’s side and Sindhi Hindu and British ancestry from her mother’s side. As a child, she was spirited and mischievous, showing an early fascination with films, influenced by actresses such as Nargis and Meena Kumari. Despite her family's strong film background, her father initially opposed women entering the film industry, a stance that led to her parents’ separation, though they later reconciled.

She attended Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai before moving to Welham Girls’ School in Dehradun. Although she was not academically inclined initially, she returned to Mumbai to study commerce at Mithibai College. She also attended a summer course in microcomputers at Harvard. Although she was interested in law and enrolled at the Government Law College in Mumbai, she ultimately decided to follow her passion for acting, receiving training at an acting institute in Mumbai.

### Career

Kareena Kapoor Khan, coming from a lineage deeply rooted in Indian cinema, faced initial challenges due to traditional beliefs about women in the film industry. Her determination to act led her to train under Kishore Namit Kapoor in Mumbai. She debuted in Bollywood with "Refugee" (2000) alongside Abhishek Bachchan, and her major breakthrough came with "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…" (2001), where she played the character Pooja.

She diversified her roles with movies like "Yuva" and "Dev," and took on a villainous role in "Fida" (2004). She starred in "Aitraaz" and "Hulchul," with "Hulchul" marking her first commercial success in three years. Despite some box office failures in 2005, she gained acclaim for her role in "Omkara" (2006), earning her a Filmfare Award.

Her career soared with the success of "Jab We Met" (2007), where she starred opposite Shahid Kapoor. In 2008, she met her future husband Saif Ali Khan on the set of "Tashan." Subsequent notable films included "Golmaal Returns" and "3 Idiots" (2009), the latter becoming the highest-grossing Bollywood film at the time.

Kapoor continued her success with films like "Bodyguard" (2011), "Ra.One" (2011), and "Talaash: The Answer Lies Within" (2012). Post-marriage, she appeared in films like "Satyagraha" (2013) and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" (2015), the latter being a massive hit.

In 2016, she starred in "Ki & Ka" and "Udta Punjab," followed by "Good Newwz" (2019) and "Angrezi Medium" (2020). Recently, she appeared in "Laal Singh Chaddha" (2022), "Jaane Jaan" (2023), "The Buckingham Murders" (2023), and "Crew" (2024).
