Nicholas Pooran was born on 2 October 1995, in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago. He is one of the most explosive batsmen and a world-class wicketkeeper for the Trinidadian side. He started his cricketing career quite early, playing as an age-group representative of the Trinidad and Tobago team for the different age-group tournaments. Nicholas, at the age of 16, already went beyond ripples that went through the Under-19 circuit demonstrating how prodigious he could be as a talent.

He signed for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with the Trinbago Knight Riders in 2013. He was the youngest player on the team. This exposure was his ticket to international cricket. He played for the West Indies in T20 Internationals against Pakistan in September 2016 and went on to play One Day International for the West Indies against England in February.

In his personal life, Pooran married his long-time girlfriend, Kathrina Miguel in 2021. On January 29, 2023, he became a father with the birth of his first child, daughter Alayra K. Pooran.

As for his background, the birth theory is that Pooran's origins are from India, Bihar. This is because of the historical migration, especially during the British colonial time, when India's laborers were brought into the Caribbean. A Twitter user posted after speaking with Pooran that Pooran's great-grandparents spoke Creole, but the ancestors communicated through Bhojpuri, an Indian lineage.

However, Pooran does not remember the past legacy as that occurred when he was too small.

Pooran has represented almost all T20 franchises in international competitions throughout his career. His batting and glove skills made him an in-demand player across different IPL franchises; some of the teams were the Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.

He demonstrated tenacity and perseverance in the sport even during such adversities as a severe car accident in 2015, by which he was ruled out of the game for 18 months. Returning to cricket with fresh vigor, he immediately reinforced his position in the West Indies side and shared actively in most international matches.
