Satinder Sartaaj, a renowned Punjabi singer-songwriter, poet, music composer, and actor, was born in the quaint village of Bajrawar in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. During his school days, this mawkish voice of his won him hearts. Voices with that strong pull would sing in local cultural gatherings even before finishing third grade. This spark within him took him to studies, and he completed an honors degree in music from Government College, Hoshiarpur.

With a burning thirst to know more about his domain, Sartaaj proceeded to complete his M.Phil and Ph.D. in Sufi singing (Gayan) from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Simultaneously, he undertook certificate and diploma courses in Persian. His Sufi music identity became inseparably coupled with academic flecks—an amalgamation of deep scholarship, deeply spiritual musical sensation. He later imparted music teaching for six years to train classical and Sufi musicians.

Born into humble beginnings that included farming, the year 2008 has been marked as baselines on his ascent to fame. A YouTube video gave way to an invitation to perform in Toronto.
