The Opinionated Indian's recently published blind item gave a hint about a Bollywood a-lister who is facing a serious problem in his career which is even though he has done a blockbuster just a few years back. After consciously taking a back seat to reassess the evolving audience needs post-pandemic, he is now trapped with the impacts of postponed projects, competition getting tougher and making the right career choice that might define his future path.

This Bollywood superstar stole a march over his closest competitors when he delivered a blockbuster a few years back. He had consciously taken a decision to step back from taking up projects as he felt that the audience expectations had undergone a huge change post the pandemic & he wanted to gauge it. One of the first movies he signed during this phase was a period romance epic starring his actress wife & a character actor turned superstar. The movie's director is the tyrant who directed his debut movie as well. Unfortunately for him, the celebrated filmmaker, who is known for his extravagant sets, is taking his own sweet time in completing the movie. The filmmaker is insisting on reshoots & needs at least three more months to finish shooting. The superstar wanted to capitalize on the success of his last release, but the 2+ year gap means the audience has probably moved on. To add insult to injury, his male co-star's movie was a blockbuster & his fiercest competitor's movie is on its way to becoming Bollywood's biggest hit ever. While he is largely unaffected by competition, the chatter on the set is that he is irritated with the delays & is rethinking his decision to star in the filmmaker's next project. He has committed to star in other projects that will keep him busy till 2027 at least. It will be interesting to see if he is able to find time for the eccentric filmmaker's project.

After the delays, the star has reportedly become more and more impatient, particularly since the industry is moving very fast and people's loyalty keeps changing rapidly. He still believes in his star status and that he can still pull in the audience, but sources say that the long production process has upset his comeback strategy which was so carefully planned. Moreover, the constant comparisons with other stars who are delivering hits one after another have only made the pressure greater, although he may choose not to admit that publicly. 

Meanwhile, the actor is slowly but surely changing his long-term career plan. He is already set to take on a number of big projects within the next few years and thus he is excited to keep the ball rolling and be a part of the action in the extremely competitive market. Rumor has it that he is turning into a more finicky person in terms of choosing his projects, putting priority on the right time, good scripts, and the right directors who can produce on time without causing too much hassle. 

On the private side, the icon looks to be happy and is concentrating on the area of stability since he has recently put his time and money into the restoration of his family's ancient home. Even though there is a lot of talk and guessing around his professional and personal matters, he appears to be very adamant about not letting things get too complicated when it comes to his legacy, his ambition, and the changing audience's expectations—because he knows well that in the present-day Hindi film industry, just being past brilliant is not enough to survive.
