Call Me Bae Ending Explained. Will There Be A Second Season?

MM

I know many of you probably expected Call Me Bae to be the Indian version of Emily in Paris, but I’m so glad it’s proven to be much more. The show turns out to be a fun and engaging watch, with a surprisingly solid storyline rather than just an adaptation of something we've already seen. While it's not entirely original, it feels authentic, and what makes it stand out is how it isn't afraid to poke fun at itself.

The plot centers around Bella Chowdhary, a South Delhi socialite who prefers to go by Bae. After three years of a lonely marriage, Bae is kicked out by her husband for cheating on him with her gym instructor. Classic South Delhi, right? But as her lavish lifestyle crumbles, Bae quickly learns that her values, rather than her wealth, might just be her saving grace. She finds work as a journalist, and soon discovers that going viral isn’t her only talent. She receives an anonymous tip about a story that could send shockwaves through the nation. The big question is: Can Bae bring this story to light, or will fear hold her back?

How Does Bae Expose Mukul?

In the final episode of Call Me Bae, Bae and her friends celebrate as their efforts pay off. Numerous women come forward with their disturbing stories about Mukul Sawla, a supposed feminist icon. As expected, Mukul denies the allegations and even tries to use them to his political advantage. But Bae and her friend Tammarrah manage to pull off a covert operation at the office, retrieving incriminating data from Satyajit’s computer without being caught. With this new evidence, they’re ready to prove Mukul is far from innocent.

Meanwhile, Satyajit, preparing for the 100th episode of his popular show Confessionals, is desperate for a big story but lacks ideas. His girlfriend and producer, Harleen, suggests bringing Mukul and Bae together for a live face-off. At home, Bae and her friends uncover that Mukul and SS have been exploiting a free 5G SIM card scheme for women, using it to steal data for Mukul’s schemes and SS’s show. The information comes from a whistleblower within Mukul’s company, going by the name Centaurus.

Harleen invites Bae to appear on the show, and after some thought, Bae realizes she needs to represent the countless women who have supported her. She’s determined to stand up for #behencode (sister code).

Bae shows up to the live episode dressed to make a statement, donning a bold red corset under a black suit. Satyajit tries to humiliate her by bringing up her past mistakes, but Bae stays composed, admitting her faults and then shifting the focus to Mukul’s wrongdoings. Using the evidence they gathered, Bae exposes Mukul’s hidden agenda, revealing how he’s manipulated his image as a feminist. Satyajit attempts to distance himself from Mukul, but without Harleen by his side, he’s left with nothing but his own sensationalist tactics. By the end, both Mukul and SS are held accountable, and Bae’s message about the power of sisterhood takes center stage. Even her estranged mother comes around and reconciles with her.

Bae and Saira’s Bond

Though Bae and Saira come from very different worlds, they share a common struggle: loneliness, stemming from being overlooked by the people who were supposed to care about them. While Bae turned to shoplifting and Saira to gambling, by the end of the series, it seems like their newfound friendship might help them keep each other grounded. Once again, sisterhood prevails. Bae’s mother also comes to realize that Samar, Bae’s ex, isn’t as important as she thought, further strengthening their bond.

Is There a Season 2 on the Horizon?

As Call Me Bae concludes, Neel offers Bae a role as his special correspondent, and she eagerly accepts. She’s set to host her own show called Call Me Bae, focusing on investigative journalism, with her first mission being to unmask Centaurus. The show’s open ending suggests there’s more to come. And just when you think things are settled, Agastya shows up at Bae’s doorstep, having flown in on his private helicopter to return her ring and, perhaps, forgive her for her past infidelity. While many are rooting for Bae and Neel, Agastya’s return throws an interesting twist into the mix. We’ll just have to wait and see where Bae’s heart will lead her.

I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed Call Me Bae. It’s the perfect lighthearted series to binge on a lazy day, with its mix of wild drama and witty humor keeping things entertaining throughout.
