Kaala Paani Season 2 Cancelled Over Budget Issues

In November 2023, Netflix dropped a video announcing season two of its show Kaala Paani. The clip featured the cast and recapped the earlier season with a promise to be back soon. And now, after two years, the streaming giant has pulled the plugs. 

Sameer Saxena, who is the showrunner, executive producer and director of the series, was all set to take the sequel to a bigger scale, but he hit a roadblock as the budget was humongous. These issues couldn't be resolved even after several meetings. After a point, it was mutually decided that Kaala Paani 2 would not be moved forward, reviewing various factors, one of them being the budget. The crew was all set for the pre-production, which was to start in May, but they have now been informed of the cancellation. 

As per sources, despite shelving Kaala Paani season two, Netflix has multiple projects in discussion, which includes season two of the breakout courtroom comedy series, Maamla Legal Hai. 

Kaala Paani had an interesting cast including Mona Singh, Ashutosh Gowariker, Amey Wagh, Sukant Goel, Vikas Kumar, Arushi Sharma, Radhika Mehrotra, Chinmay Madlekar and more. It showed the people's fight for survival after a mysterious illness spreads upon the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Have you watched the first season of the series?
