Wadi Police Station, established on 21 June 1969, is situated in a thickly populated place in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Guiding this station is Senior Police Inspector (PI) Pradeep Balaso Suryawanshi, a 2006 batch Police Sub-Inspector himself, responsible for a dedicated workforce of 98 staff and 11 personnel.
Jurisdiction and Demographics
The area of responsibility of the station is approximately 10 km (i.e., the area between Wádi Naka No. 10 "to Wadhdhamna (EW)" and Lava village to MIDC toll naka (NS). This region houses a population of around 200,000 residents. Its jurisdiction for certain components of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (Kashimate and Popular Society, Nagpur), Wadi Municipal Council (Control Wadi, Dattawadi, Dammakirti Nagar, Wada) and a variety of Gram panchayats, such as Lava, Surabuldi, Durgadhamna, Waddhamana, Nagarwadi and Bodhale is explained herein. Due to an increase in traffic accidents in its jurisdiction and in particular along the accident-prone section of the National Highway 6, Wadi Police Station has implemented daily "nakabandis" (roadblocks) at peak hours of the day to regulate vehicle speeds. Higher levels of vigilance and guidelines to public officials not to unnecessarily inconvenience drivers, have all contributed to lower accident rates.
