Narivetta' Movie Review, Cast, Actress

The story begins with Varghese, who is a high-achieving officer who chooses to stay home rather than take a job that doesn't make him feel worth it. He slacks and eats on his mother's savings and also pisses off his girlfriend. He is then forced to take up a constable's job. On his journey, he finds his purpose. The film's writing brings a lot of recognition for the lead actor, but the portion which shows his slow life is elongated, which doesn't seem fair as the character has bigger things waiting in the story.
The movie takes up after the first act when Varghese and the other constables assemble on a protected forest land for a socio-political drama. Here we see some stories from the tribal community who are fighting for the land which is their home. Then we see a honey collector who represents the community's strength and helplessness in a perfect way. As Varghese learns about these protestors, he realizes the realities of the violence which his profession involves and the part he plays in these injustices.
Here comes commanding officer Keshavadas, who puts Varghese in his place when he shuts down his police hero theatrics. Varghese's questions about the systemic violence against the tribes fall on deaf ears. This brings in Basheer, who makes Varghese realize the futility of violence and the privilege of his uniform.
The movie is somewhat based on a real-life incident in 2003 by Muthanga. Narivetta is a page from the Kerala Adivasi land rights movement with some twists and turns.
