Vedalam is a action Tamil movie which was released in 2015, This movie is directed by Siva and written by Siva & Vakkantham Vamsi. While it casts Ajith Kumar and Lakshmi Menon, Shruti Hassan, Ashwin Kakumanu, Rahul Dev, Thambi Ramaiah, Kabir Duhan Singh, and Soori has also acted in this picture. The songs in the movie are composed by Anirudh Ravichander; while the movie’s photography which includes cinematography was done by Vetri and the editing was done by Ruben.

The film was officially announced in mid-2014 after the commercial success of the earlier collaboration of Ajith and Siva, Veeram and in October 2014, Rathnam was confirmed to be heading the production. Subsequently the team of the movie went through major shifts in cast and crew and also Kumar, was busy with another film Yennai Arindhal making the schedules for Perfect Nanna were pushed. Principal photography for the film commenced on 9 April 2015 and cinematographer Sudhakar SAK shot major portions in Kolkata along with portions shot in Chennai and Milan, Italy and was wrapped up in October 2015. The shooting of this film was started by naming it as the Thala 56, later in the September 2015 the makers released the actual title Vedalam.

Vedalam was released worldwide on November 10, 2015, on the festival of Diwali received mixed to negative reviews from critics. More than ₹120 crore were collected on the first day of its release and the film was good for business to the traders and exhibitors. It was remade in Bengali as Sultan: Ayyappan in 2018 and as the psycho maniac Bhola Shankar in 2023 in Telugu Cinema.
