Vikrant Rona Ending Explained

Anup Bhandari wrote and directed the movie "Vikrant Rona", set in the fictitious village of Kamarottu (which is the same place from Bhandari's film "RangiTaranga"). The story begins with the kidnapping and murder of a kid who was traveling with her mother. It then shifts to a wedding of Vishwanath Ballal and Panna, the daughter of Baby Ballal, and a guy who works in Vishwanath's mill.

They wish to get Janardhan Gambhira's approval, but he doesn't agree as the groom is from a different caste. This is when Sanju, Janardhan and Shantha Gambhira's son, appears. He had deserted Kamarottu after Janardhan had exiled him for stealing gems from the local temple and is now returning after a long time.

On his first night back home, Sanju and Panna come across a dead police officer, which they assume is the work of a monster called "Brahmarakshas". This is when Kiccha Sudeep, playing the titular character, appears. Inspector Sudeep is accompanied by his daughter Geethanjali Rona (Samhitha). He is there to investigate the death of the officer and the kidnappings of several other children in the area.

When his jeep's tire is damaged and his bag, supposedly containing his uniform, is stolen, people start to question if he was ever a police officer. Nevertheless, his suspicions lead him to the truth behind the events in Kamarottu.

The movie "Vikrant Rona" has a complicated plot line and moves so quickly that it is difficult to follow everything. This review is based solely on the initial viewing.

‘Vikrant Rona’ Ending Explained

Around three decades ago, Nittoni, his wife, his mother, his young daughter, and his two sons, Raghava and Madhava, lived in a small village known as Kamarottu. It is believed that they were from a low social class and low caste. The school principal strongly encouraged Nittoni to have his children attend school, so that they can escape their class and caste limits.

However, the upper caste and upper-class students at school were often bullying Raghava and Madhava. In fact, there was a generally hostile attitude towards the two of them attending school. Therefore, when Sanju stole the temple jewels, the locals blamed Nittoni and his family for it.

They violently attacked the elderly and set their home on fire. Raghava and Madhava ran away. The upper caste kids then used a pliers to break Madhava's teeth and Raghava caused his sister to fall into a well, killing her.

It was believed that Raghava and Madhava, like the rest of their family, had died, but they were alive and living in Kamarottu under the aliases Lawrence Pinto and Sanju. They had been kidnapping children, and their current victims were Panna and Munna, the children of the people who had caused the death of Raghava and Madhava's father, mother, and sister. Was the grandmother still alive? Yes, and she was able to move around like a ghost.

Why were they targeting Vikrant Rona's child? Because Vikrant used to live in Kamarottu, and he had given the rowdy kids the pliers that were used to hurt Madhava. All of this is revealed in the temple where the brothers were trying to kill Panna and Munna, and Vikrant ended up stopping them and the grandmother.

It is certain that Madhava is dead, but there is no confirmation about the grandmother. We never saw Raghava's corpse so it is uncertain. Just one stab does not necessarily mean death - Vikrant was stabbed multiple times and still emerged victorious. This is beside the point though.

The movie "Vikrant Rona" did not do a good job of portraying casteism as Madhava and Raghava were portrayed as monsters who killed children, instead of victims of a casteist village. They were not given an opportunity to redeem themselves or seek revenge. Vikrant was still praised as a hero, even though he was on the side of the villains, and the ending implies that he did the right thing - which is not the case.
