Junaid Ahmad ias preparation for the UPSC exam & booklist & advice

Insufficient note-taking during his IAS Mains exam preparation was one of the factors contributing to Junaid Ahmad IAS's initial failure. However, learning from his past setbacks, he resolved to create comprehensive notes using bullet points. After a few years of unsuccessful attempts, he finally succeeded in cracking the Mains exam. In the period following the preliminary exams, Junaid focused on enhancing his answer writing skills, ensuring his notes were concise and organized with bullet points.

During his preparation for the UPSC CSE exam, Junaid Ahmad prioritizes accurate question answering. He diligently attends 10 mock tests annually and avails online coaching from NeoStencil. To ensure success in the exam, Junaid sets daily and weekly targets, striving to accomplish them. He practices writing up to seven answers per hour and engages in discussions with his friends, exchanging viewpoints. Athar Aamir Khan and Shah Faesal serve as his sources of inspiration, while he draws wisdom from the books of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, a revered role model for aspiring youth.

Strategy for Prelims

Commencing his prelims preparation, he began by studying an NCERT book covering the material from 9th to 12th grade. In the prelims examination, even after thoroughly studying the entire syllabus, one can typically attempt only 40 to 45 questions. Beyond that, success hinges on the application of acquired knowledge and the experience gained throughout the exam preparation process.

Geography- For this first of all he uses NCERT books of class 11th and 12th and he uses Physical and Human geography by GC Leong. India A Comprehensive Geography by D.R Khullar. 

History- Old necrt book of class 11th and 12th, he also read Indias struggle for independence Bipin Chandra. 

Polity- There is a book called Indian constitution at work class 11th this is an amazing book and it’s very helpful. One more book that you have to read was Indian Polity by M Laxmikant. 

Economy- He started with Class 11th & 12th macroeconomic with this he prefer Indian Economy by Ramesh Singh. 

Science and Teach- He did not read any book on this topic. He depends on newspapers, he read the Indian Express newspaper.

Environment and ecology– Like many other people Junaid Ahmad also read Environment By- Shankar IAS. 

How did he prepare for the mains exam?

Art and culture-  While utilizing the NCERT books for class 11 and 12, he acknowledged that these resources did not provide comprehensive coverage. As a result, he supplemented his studies by incorporating art and culture books specifically focused on fine arts.

world history-  Thoroughly analyzing the previous year's question papers reveals that three questions are dedicated to this particular topic. Hence, it is crucial to prepare this topic meticulously and with great attention to detail.

Ethics- He emphasized the significance of studying ethics, emphasizing that it cannot be disregarded. To delve into this subject, he commenced by analyzing the previous year's question paper, deciphering its underlying implications. Additionally, he sought specialized coaching for ethics, but interestingly, he opted not to rely on any specific book for this topic.

How to stay motivated in the Journey of UPSC preparation

He emphasizes that this is not a mere three or six-month journey, but rather a year-long endeavor. Adhering to a rigorous daily routine, he occasionally finds it monotonous. To counterbalance this, he rejuvenates himself by watching movies with a close friend every weekend. Additionally, he indulges in playing cricket, which serves as a refreshing hobby.
