NTR Family Tree Explained

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, known as NTR, was born on May 28, 1923 in Nimmakuru, Madras Presidency, British India. He was an actor, filmmaker, director, editor, and politician who went on to become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years, over three terms. He is an iconic figure in the Telugu states and is affectionately known as “Anna”. He passed away on January 18, 1996 in Hyderabad. His parents were Nandamuri Lakshmaih Chowdary and Venkata Ramamma.

In May of 1942, when he was 20 years old, NTR wed Basava Tarakam, who was the daughter of his maternal uncle. They had 8 sons, namely Nandamuri Rama Krishna Sr, Nandamuri Jaya Krishna, the late Nandamuri Sai Krishna, Hari Krishna, Mohana Krishna, Bala Krishna, Jr Rama Krishna Jayashankara Krishna, and 4 daughters, Purandareswari, Lokeswari, Bhuvaneswari, and Uma Maheswari.

NTR Sons and Their Families

1. Rama Krishna aka Sr. Ramakrishna

NTR established the Ramakrishna Studios film studio in Nacharam, which was named in honor of Ramakrishna.

2. Jaya Krishna

He is wed to Padmavati and Jaya Krishna was incarcerated for a period of 6 months due to a bounced check charge.

3. Sai Krishna

Sai Krishna passed away in 2004 due to a lengthy illness at the age of 53. He was married to Madhavimani and had gone into a coma for four years following a bathroom fall. He had two daughters.

4. Hari Krishna

Nandamuri Hari Krishna was the fourth child of NTR and was married to Lakshmi, with whom he had three children named Nandamuri Janaki Ram, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, and Suhasini. Additionally, he was in a relationship with Shalini Nandamuri, from which Jr NTR was born.

1. Nandamuri Janaki Ram

Janaki Ram, a film producer, passed away in an accident in 2014 and he had two sons, Soumithri Prabhakar and Master NTR.

2. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram

Kalyan Ram is married to Swathi, a physician, and they have two children - a son called Sourya Ram and a daughter named Taraka Advitha. He is a famous actor.

3. Suhasini

She was wed to Prasad Verma, a successful businessman from Hyderabad. After the passing of his father, she entered politics in 2018 and was chosen to represent Kukatpally in the elections.

4. Nandamuri Jr NTR

Jr NTR, the renowned celebrity of Tollywood, is the son of Hari Krishna and Shalini Bhaskar Rao. He got married to Pranati in 2010 and the couple has two sons named Abhay Ram and Bhargav Ram.

5. Mohana Krishna

Mohana Krishna Nandamuri is both a film producer and a cinematographer. He is married to Santi and the couple have two children named Taraka Ratna and Roopa.

6. Balakrishna

Bala Krishna is the sixth child of NTR, a famous celebrity and senior actor of the Tollywood film industry. He tied the knot with Vasundara Devi, and they had three kids: Nara Brahmani, Tejaswini, and Mokshajna Taraka Rama Teja. Brahmani married Nara Lokesh, the son of Nara Bhuvaneshwari and Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Tejaswini, on the other hand, tied the knot with Bharath.

7. Ramakrishna Jr

Nandamuri Ramakrishna is a Film Producer and is wed to Jayasri.

8. Jayashankara krishna

Nandamuri Jayashankara Krishana is an entrepreneur who is married to Sridevi.

1. Garapati Lokeshwari

Doctor Garapati Lokeshwari is a specialist in gynecology, and she is wed to Garapati Ganeshwara rao.

2. Daggubati Purandeswari

Purandeswari is a Politician representing the BJP Party and currently serving as a Minister. She is married to Doctor Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, a Member of Parliament. She is the mother of two children, Hitesh Chenchuram and Nivedita.

3. Nara Bhuvaneshwari

Nara Bhuvaneshwari is a successful businesswoman and director of Heritage Foods Private Limited. She is the wife of Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, who used to be the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This couple has only one son, Lokesh Nara, who is married to Bala Krishna's daughter, Brahmani. They also have another son, Devnash Nara.

4. K. Uma Maheswari

Uma Maheshwari was the youngest child of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and he had a great fondness for her. Initially, she was married to a businessman from Andhra Pradesh, however, the couple eventually separated due to some issues. Later on, she married K. Sreenevasa Prasad from America.

Trivikrama Rao – NTR Brother

NTR had a brother called Trivikrama Rao who was also part of the film industry and a well-known producer. His son was named Kalyana Chakravarthy and he too acted in numerous films.
