Trouble getting adequate sleep? Read our article by Mahek on 7 easy to implement tips to help you get sound sleep.
One night of sleeplessness is enough to transform us into the female version of the Hulk, the worst thing you can do for your health is to get used to the lack of rest, so for your sake (and that of others, ahem), apply these tips and sleep like a baby.
1. Light Dinner
At least three hours before going to sleep, avoid large meals and / or the intake of stimulating foods (coffee; garlic, spicy, onion, lettuce, honey), otherwise digestion will be heavy and will interfere with your rest. Cultivate this habit to get sound sleep at night.
2. Relax, You’re Home!
If after 20 minutes of going to bed you cannot fall asleep, it is a sign that you are tense or worried. Get up and do an activity that helps you calm down, such as reading your twenties magazine, listening to chill-out music, taking your puppy for a walk, or meditating.
3. Follow a Routine
Establish a time to go to sleep and wake up, it is advisable to follow it even on weekends, although if your body asks you to stay in bed for a few more minutes, do not object.
4. Sleep Warm
Take a bath of hot water an hour before going to sleep, it is so comforting that the muscles relax and raise your body temperature. It is also important to keep your feet warm, put on some wool socks, this simple action will help you fall asleep.
5. Move Away From Mobile Devices.
Don’t put them on your bureau, much less on your pillow! Move them away from your rest area, the light they emit keeps the senses alert, damaging the sleep cycle. The same happens with electronic devices, do not leave them on standby, take the time to disconnect them.
6. Write Before Bed
Many people have their best ideas before bedtime, while others are plagued by thoughts that keep them tossing all night. Keep these both at bay by writing for a few minutes before you go to bed each night - this practice will help you clear your mind before you drift off to dreamland.
7. Avoid Alcohol
Drinking before bed is one of the quickest ways to ruin what would otherwise be a restful sleep cycle, as alcoholic beverages contain chemicals that impede your brain from drifting into a deep sleep.
