Are you a romcom fan? Is To All The Boys P.S. I Still Love You worth a watch? Read our review by Purvi to find out!
It was a nice movie. The directorial work in the first part ‘To All the Boys I Have Loved Before’ was one of the reasons I liked it so much and the work was still very good in the second part. The first movie told an original story and had unique characters, especially, #LaraJean. This movie introduces a few new characters and while they were enjoyable, the feature character, John Ambrose, lacked depth as a whole. If you watch the first part and like it, you will probably enjoy this one, otherwise, this movie is pretty good.
John Ambrose’s character was entirely focused on his love for Lara Jean. I felt very little connection to him as everything we knew about him revolved around his relationship with LJ. Stormy was my favourite new character introduced because she fulfilled her role very well for the movie. The storyline was simplistic and at best. Girls fall for a boy, other boys from the girl’s past test their love, they break up, the girl realizes she loves boy after sharing a romantic moment with other boys, girl and boy get back together. They could have taken it in a new and exciting or at least somewhat different direction but they chose the safe route.
The #movie lacked depth as a whole and felt like fan service rather than living up to its predecessor. I still don’t know how I feel about Peter as a character but he was good in the movie, LJ is still the unique and main character. They teased a potential relationship between
Chris and Trevor and then did nothing with it at the end which is okay but I do wish I could have seen some kind payoff for that side plot. Overall, it was okay, could have been better but it definitely could have been worse. I wish they had explored #JohnAmbrose’s character more and if there is a third part, I hope they do.
