Gone are the days of uselessly staring at the wall while counting the days till your Amazon delivery reaches you carrying all your supplies during the nationwide lockdown. People are getting out on the streets now and it's time for you to go out and grace the world with your pretty face once again! But, if you haven't yet noticed, it's August already and that means you need to roll up your sleeves and rearrange your wardrobe because the monsoon is on its way. Now is the time to learn some new trends that are doing the rounds on the Internet (and possibly at your workplace) so that you don't fall behind others in the glam game. And just for that reason, I have listed three superb trends to follow during this time to up your style quotient as you get ready to go back to your office and wow the people with your dazzling looks!
Before we begin...August is the season when dark clouds herald a dreary season of nonstop downpour and irritating puddles. And since the humidity runs high during this time, you might want to follow my skincare tip for the rainy season. First and foremost, DO NOT go out without applying sunscreen. Just because the cloud cover does not let the sun shine at its brightest doesn't mean you are not exposed to the harmful UV rays. Also, try to avoid wearing heavy makeup as the humidity will make you sweat a lot and the makeup will clog the pores and not let your skin breathe.
These are two of the most important things to keep in mind and now we can proceed to the three trends I have to tell you about.
Trend #1: A Minimalist Make-up Look
Since it's monsoon and the constant humidity is going to ruin your makeup anyway, so the safest option is to sport your no-makeup look and let the world feel how beautiful you are from within! This is definitely going to be a trend for the upcoming weeks, so let me tell you how to nail this look.
✓Minimalist makeup is all about a "less is more" approach. No smoky eyes, no glittery lip glosses, and thankfully, it takes so little time!
✓The base of your entire look is going to be your healthy, soft and supple skin, so you should definitely start applying an SPF-enriched moisturizer such as the Lakmé Peach Milk Moisturiser that comes with SPF 24! You can also try the L'Oréal Paris Skin Perfect Cream that contains UV filters that work in the same way as the SPF.
✓Choose a quality foundation that does not sit too heavily on your skin and lets you breathe. Choosing the perfect shade of the foundation is an important factor and I have only one tip for you, choose the foundation according to your complexion! Look for the Maybelline NY Fit Me Foundation that is specially made for the Indian skin tones.
✓Once you're done with the foundation, apply a lightweight bronzer to accentuate your features in the most subtle way possible. Make it look absolutely natural by applying only a tiny bit to your cheekbones and your jawline to make your face appear more pronounced. Try out the L'Oreal Paris Back to Bronze Matte Powder Bronzer for the best look money can buy you!
✓Put some lightweight and waterproof mascara to make your eyes more prominent and you can add a bit of light eyeshadow to go with it. Don't opt for anything too dramatic. You might like the Maybelline NY Sensational Mascara with Maybelline NY The Blushed Nudes Eye Shadow Palette.
✓Complete your look with a creamy matte lipstick of a light, rosy shade like the Peach Candy shade from the Faces Canada Weightless Matte Lipstick range.
Trend #2: Neon Nail art
Why not add a bit of colour to this bleak season with some funky nail art trends? Neon Nail art has been around for quite some time and it's not going anywhere any time soon as Elle UK has predicted it to be a #1 nail art trend for this year! Since we have been stuck in our homes for so long, now is the best time ever to try your hands at being an at-home nail art pro.
✓Remember to keep your nails healthy by using some cuticle moisturizers to do away with dry and brittle nails.
✓Now that your nails look as good as ever, you can try out some cool neon shades on them such as the MyGlamm Neon Nail Paints.
✓But if neon is too loud for your liking, you can try out some equally interesting vibrant shades such as the Lakmé True Wear Color Crush Nail Color that is available in countless amazing shades on Amazon.
✓Remember to add a top coat after you're done painting your nails since this locks the colour and prevents your nails from getting chipped to easily.
Trend #3: Simple yet sustainable hairstyles
Most of us have forgotten what a salon looks like, thanks to this long-drawn-out quarantine season at home. And even if the salons are opening up right now, many of us are still not willing to go because of safety concerns. So any sort of hairstyle that requires a regular visit to the salon is probably not going to be a trend at the moment. But simple, manageable hairdos will definitely be a thing this season.
✓The humidity messes with everyone's hair and cases of hair fall spike up during this time of the year. Take care of your hair with regular shampooing and do not forget to use the conditioner after you're done with the shampoo!
✓Don't use the blow-dryer and try to dry your hair the natural way. Too much blow-drying can lead to hair loss.
✓You can try the top knot look. It's productive, it's hassle-free and it takes no time to nail this hairstyle.
✓Don't go out without tieing your hair because the humidity will make you sweat a lot and no one wants that hair-sticking-to-the-back-of-your-dress mishap to happen, right? Just take a small scrunchie and tie up your hair or braid it to your liking.
And with that, we come to the end of my list on all the predicted trends that are going to be on everyone's mind this time of the year! If you liked my tips, do share this with your friends and let me know in the comments if you would have wanted me to include some more tips that seem to have worked for you. Have a great day!
