From designer boutiques to colourful street markets and bazaars, Mumbai has it all for the shoppers. You must explore the city by navigating the bazaars, markets and boutiques that makeup Mumbai’s shopping scene. Scour through the bustling bazaar filled with antiques and come away with deals on teak-wood tables and the handcrafted grandfather clock.
Colaba Causeway Market
This market feels a bit like a carnival. You will be surrounded by stalls filled with colourful shoes, bags, hand-woven shawls, imitation jewellery, phone covers studded with diamantes and much more. You must go to the stores behind the stalls to find designer bags, jewellery, branded clothes and the latest electronics.
As the name suggests, here we find zevar or jewellery. You can see silversmiths polishing candelabras, diamond makers armed with loupes and goldsmiths weighing their wares. In the labyrinth of lanes that make up the bazaar, there are glittering multi-storey shops, tiny family-owned businesses tucked into corners and many workshops.
High Street Phoenix and Palladium
Lower Parel was once the home of abandoned mills; today it houses some of India’s glitziest malls. High Street Phoenix and Palladium share a complex. You can check out local brands such as Fab India and Global Desi, here you will find Indo-western outfits or international players like Gucci, Adidas and Clarks.
You can find stuff similar to Bollywood star’s on-screen outfits at Juhu. Not far from Juhu Beach there are a string of boutiques, some run by the best names in the fashion business and others stocking talented designers to suit buyers with smaller budgets. You can pick from elegant sarees embellished with gold zari or pastel-coloured kurtis with chikankari, rich kantha embroidery on lehengas or dupattas made heavy with gota work.
Bandra Hill Road and Linking Road Street Markets
In the upscale neighbourhood of Bandra, you may spot some celebrities while shopping in one of the many stores or their street-chic fashion. You can head to Hill Road if you are looking for stalls that sell edgy footwear ranging from sandals to high heels and everything in between. You can also checkout the jewellery stalls for some cool studs, hoops, metal rings and much more. There are many tiny stores where you can find casual men and women wears.
There are many such places in Mumbai for shopping for all kinds of budgets. These where places from my list, I usually go to these places.
