Know About Lunch Break Time In Test Cricket In India

In Test cricket, a day is divided into three sessions with two intervals: lunch and tea. That way, all players can enjoy enough break times throughout the play of the day.
Pattern for Standard Test Match:
Opening Hour: Depending on the location, the first playing session starts at 9:30 AM
First Session-Morning Session 9:30 AM -11:30 AM
Break -Lunchtime 11:30 AM to 12:10 PM -40 minutes.
Second Session (Afternoon): 12:10 PM to 2:10 PM.
Tea Break: 2:10 PM to 2:30 PM (20 minutes).
Third Session (Evening): 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Extra Time: If the fielding team has not completed its quota of 90 overs, an additional 30 minutes is provided, which may extend play up to 5:00 PM.
These overs can be added back if there are delays due to rain, interruption of play, or an innings break. At times, officials may choose an early lunch or tea to save time in playing.
Day/Night Test Match Schedule:
During day-night Tests, the timings are reversed with late starts and a dinner break instead of a lunch break:
Start Time: Usually 1:30 PM, but can be sometime else.
First Session (Afternoon): 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
Dinner Break: 3:30 PM to 4:10 PM (40 minutes).
Second Session (Evening): 4:10 PM to 6:10 PM.
Tea Break: 6:10 PM to 6:30 PM (20 minutes).
Third Session (Night): 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Extra Time: If needed, play can go up to 9:00 PM to finish the required overs.
In some events, the intake of tea may be taken earlier than dinner at the discretion of the local scenario or preferences.
These arranged breaks help a player perform up to his limits and also play in the perfect rhythm of traditional Test cricket.
