The valley lies 105 km away from Leh and is a hub for adventure sports like paragliding, trekking, and water rafting among others. Phugtal Monastery is a Buddhist monastery situated in the southeast part of Zanskar at the mouth of a natural cave on a cliff. It is one of the isolated monasteries in the region that was built around 2500 years ago. The monastery looks like a honeycomb when seen from a distance. It can be reached by foot and requires an arduous trekking. The Phuktal Monastery has four prayer rooms, a library, guest rooms, library along with a living space for around seven hundred monks. The Frozen River Expedition or the Chadar Trek is a six-day challenging trek in India.

Srinagar

The capital of Jammu and Kashmir is the highlight of the Kashmir Package. It is located on the embankment of river Jhelum. Srinagar is popular for the stationary houseboats and gondola-type rowboats-Shikaras on Dal Lake. Embellished with serene Dal and Nigeen Lakes Srinagar is the dream destination on the bucket list of honeymooners and family vacationers. Nishat Bagh located near the Dal Lake is a twelve terraced garden and the second largest Mughal Garden in Kashmir after Shalimar Bagh. It is popularly known as the “Garden of Bliss’ and has a Mughal central water channel with several fountains surrounded by tall Chinar trees. Nishant Bagh was designed and built by Asif Khan in 1633, who was the elder brother of Nur Jahan. Shalimar Bagh Mughal Garden is the largest of the three Mughal Gardens and this pristine attraction was built in 1619 by Mughal emperor Jahangir for his beloved wife and is known as the “crown of Srinagar”. Ride across the Dal Lake with the snow-clad Himalayas in the background for a unique, relaxing and unparalleled experience.

Nubra Valley

Nubra Valley is one of the prime attractions of the Ladakh Tour. It is known for its monasteries, orchards and the ride of the two-humped Bactrian camels. They were once the major mode of transport to travel to the Silk Route. Nowadays they are used for safari in the region and are hugely recommended among tourists. Nubra Valley is encircled by snow-carpeted Himalayan mountains and can be reached via Khardung La Pass. Panamik Village is located 140 km from Leh and lies nestled close to the Siachen Glacier and is famous for its hot sulphur springs. The springs are located at an elevation of 10,442 feet above sea level. It is believed that these have medicinal properties and travellers need to obtain an Inner Line Permit to reach Panamik in Nubra Valley. Yarab Tso is known as the Hidden Lake and has crystal clear water. As it is located in an isolated location the only way to reach here is through an uphill hike. Samstanling Monastery is a one-hundred-and-forty-year-old Buddhist shrine located in the Sumlur village of Nubra Valley. It was founded by Lama Tsultim Nima. The monastery has two assembly halls that have spell-binding murals and paintings of Buddha, Dharma Chakra, the four heavenly kings and lots of other aspects of Buddhism. Near the Diskit monastery is the thirty-two-m tall statue of Maitreya Buddha facing the Shyok River. It was built recently with eight kilograms of gold donated by the head of Gompa and was sanctified by the Dalai Lama.

 

Sonamarg

Known for its undulating trekking routes and endless patches of flowers Sonmarg has to be in every Kashmir Package. Sonamarg means the “meadow of gold” because of the bloom burst of yellow crocuses at the time of spring. It houses the famous three sisters a group of rivers-the Lidder, Sind and Neelum. If one lists down all tourist attractions in Sonamarg then the name Zoji La Pass finds its palace at the top. It is located at an altitude of 3528 meters as this high-altitude pass connects Kashmir to beautiful Ladakh. Being at an amazing height it has the advantage of showing beautiful views of dense and deep valleys. The pass remains covered in snow throughout the year and remains open between May to October. Zero Point is a spot on the other side of Zojila Pass where one can get something to eat, click beautiful pictures and take a break from the journey. Activities like riding a sleigh on the snow take place here. Thajiwas Glacier is the top tourist attraction in Sonamarg. It is situated at an altitude of over ten thousand feet and is three km away from Sonamarg. The visitors can encounter the silver-shining water streams in the green meadows before reaching the glacier. One does not go all the way to the glacier but up to a spot called the ‘snow point’. Sarbal is a small village located two km away from Sonamarg. The village lies deep inside the forest right next to the Sind River. This place is very scenic and worth visiting. White River Rafting is one of the popular things to indulge in Sonamarg. Go for a long rafting expedition which kickstarts from Baltal and ends at Shuktkari Bridge where tourists visit in droves to engage in thrilling water rafting activity.

 

Magnetic Hill

Located at an elevation of 14000 feet above sea level this attraction of the Ladakh is the Magnetic Hill. It lies on the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar National Highway in the Trans-Himalayan region. The hill is marked by a yellow signboard that reads” The Phenomena That Defies Gravity. It also instructs the visitors to park the vehicle in the box marked with a white point on the road. When the vehicle is parked at the indicated spot it begins to move forward at a speed of twenty km per hour. The layout of the area and surrounding slopes create the optical illusion of a hill. The road is actually a downhill road so the moving vehicle on the road may appear to roll uphill in defiance of gravity but actually, it is rolling downhill.

Gulmarg

This beautiful destination of the Kashmir is located at an altitude of 2730 m above sea level. It is a world-famous skiing destination which is located in the Pir Panjal Range of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Gulmarg is enveloped by meadows of flowers, snow-clad lofty Himalayas, evergreen forested valleys and deep ravines. Besides being a top honeymoon destination in India it also has the world’s second-highest Gondola ride. The year-round snow-clad Apharwat Peak is located at an altitude of 4,200 m above sea level. The Line of Control is only a few km from the peak. As this beautiful summit remains covered with snow for most of the year the snow-clad slopes are among the best ones and ideal for snowboarding and skiing in India. Located thirteen km from Gulmarg is the Alpather Lake. The stunning and pristine lake is located at the foot of the twin Apharwat peaks and is encircled by rocky mountains and verdant meadows.
