Amala Paul begins filming for Ajay Devgn's Bholaa in Varanasi

The news about the south superstar Amala Paul making her Bollywood movie debut in Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa was released last month. The actress has now started shooting for the movie in Varanasi.

Sharing some details on her character from the film, the makers have said in an official statement that while her role has been kept under wraps, source are telling us she is playing a Banarasi woman in the movie. The cast and crew are expected to spend a week filming in Benaras.

Bholaa, directed by Ajay Devgn, also stars his close friend Tabu. They also worked together in the recently released Drishyam 2. There are also reports that Abhishek Bachchan will appear in the film as a cameo.

Bholaa is the official Hindi remake of director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s successful Tamil film Kaithi, which was released in 2019.

Although Bholaa is Amala’s first Bollywood film, it’s not her first Hindi project. Her first appearance in this language happened earlier this year in the Voot web-series Ranjish Hi Sahi. The show was inspired on the life of veteran filmmaker and producer Mahesh Bhatt, who was also the show's creator. The late actress Parveen Babi inspired Amala's character in the show Amna Parvez.
