It has since come to light that Varun Dhawan was the original choice to play Raju but turned down the part after the news that Kartik Aaryan would be taking over for Akshay Kumar in Hera Pheri 3 caught people’s attention.

The news that Kartik Aaryan would take over Akshay Kumar’s role as Raju in Hera Pheri 3 greatly disappointed fans. Suniel Shetty was among those who expressed shock at Akshay’s decision to leave the well-known comedy franchise. And now, if the most recent reports are to be believed, Varun Dhawan, not Kartik, was the original choice to play Raju, but he turned down the part.
Anand Pandit and Firoz Nadiadwala reportedly approached Varun first with the Hera Pheri 3 offer. Because of Varun’s comedic timing, both wanted him to play Raju.
