It has since come to light that Varun Dhawan was the original choice to play Raju but turned down the part after the news that Kartik Aaryan would be taking over for Akshay Kumar in Hera Pheri 3 caught people’s attention.
The news that Kartik Aaryan would take over Akshay Kumar’s role as Raju in Hera Pheri 3 greatly disappointed fans. Suniel Shetty was among those who expressed shock at Akshay’s decision to leave the well-known comedy franchise. And now, if the most recent reports are to be believed, Varun Dhawan, not Kartik, was the original choice to play Raju, but he turned down the part.
Anand Pandit and Firoz Nadiadwala reportedly approached Varun first with the Hera Pheri 3 offer. Because of Varun’s comedic timing, both wanted him to play Raju.
Additionally, David Dhawan and his son Rohit Dhawan were asked to co-direct the movie by the two producers. But out of great respect for Akshay Kumar, who has made the Hera Pheri franchise a blockbuster, Varun politely declined the offer.

After bringing Kartik on board, the producers are currently searching for the director. According to rumors, Anees Bazmee, the director, has been asked to take the position. But nothing has been decided yet.
Priyadarshan directed Hera Pheri, which saw its debut in 2000. Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal starred in it. The film is a remake of Ramji Rao from 1989 in Malayalam, which was itself influenced by the 1971 television film See The Man Run.
Raju, Shyam, and landlord Baburao are the main characters of the first installment, Hera Pheri. Raju and Shyam are tenants who are in desperate need of money when they receive a ransom call from a cross connection. Phir Hera Pheri, the second volume, was published in 2006. Rajpal Yadav, Johnny Lever, Rimi Sen, and Bipasha Basu were also present. The 1998 film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels served as a major source of inspiration for the main plot.
