Is There Any Connection Of Junaid Khan With Laapataa Ladies?
Aamir Khan's Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao and featuring Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Ravi Kishan, has been selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars. The film is based on a story by Biplab Goswami, with the screenplay and dialogues penned by Sneha Desai. Interestingly, there is a lesser-known connection between the film and Junaid Khan, Aamir Khan's son.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Sneha Desai shared the backstory: "I had gone to narrate Maharaj to Junaid, as it was meant to be his debut film. During the narration, both Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao were present. Junaid signed on for the film, but then the lockdown happened, putting the project on hold. That's when I was approached with Laapataa Ladies. I was told that, with everyone having time during the pandemic, they were exploring this story and wanted me to work on it. It was a series of happy coincidences."
Sneha has since become a go-to collaborator for the Khan family, as she’s now involved in Junaid Khan's upcoming film with Khushi Kapoor, directed by Advait Chandan. The film, a remake of the Tamil hit Love Today, is scheduled to release on February 7, 2025. Sneha also has another project in the works under Aamir Khan Productions.
