PIL Filed In Delhi HC Demanding Ban On Vijay Varma Starrer Series IC 814!!!
A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi High Court against the Vijay Verma-led serial IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Films directed by Anubhav Sinha are under scrutiny for allegedly distorting facts and hurting religious sentiments.
The controversy surrounding Vijay Verma starrer IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is making waves these days. A day after the Netflix India chief’s appeal, a PIL was filed in the Delhi High Court on Monday.
The petition on behalf of Hindu Sena president and farmer Surjit Singh Yadav alleges that the series misrepresents the actual abductees by using names like Bhola and Shankar, another name for Lord Shiva, which offends the use of the Hindus. The petition demanded that the Maharashtra central government should suspend the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of the serial and ban its public release.
The petition said: “The distortion of important facts surrounding the kidnappings not only misrepresents historical events but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes also, it required court intervention to prevent further public misunderstanding and potential harm.”
Meanwhile, the central government has summoned Netflix India's head of content to clarify controversial aspects of the series, including a 1999 episode of Pakistan-based terror group Harkat- ul-Mujahideen hijacked an Indian Airlines plane Directed by Anubhav Sinha and Trishant Srivastava, the series is based on the book Flight Into Fear: The Captain’s Story by Captain Devi Sharan and journalist Sri Joy Chowdhury.
The show, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Diya Mirza, Rajeev Thakur, Pooja Gor, Patralekha, Aditya Shrivastava and Pankaj Kapoor, is about the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814 on December 24, 1999, which is considered a long-running hijacking demonstration of one of the greatest in the history of aviation The series, which will be released on Netflix on March 29, 2024, has received a lot of attention and appreciation from viewers.
