What Is The National Animal Of Afghanistan?

Afghanistan, officially the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, is a landlocked country in Central Asia and South Asia. The Heart of Asia is bounded to the east and south by Pakistan, to the west by Iran, to the northwest by Turkmenistan, to the north by Uzbekistan, to the northeast by Tajikistan, and to the northeast and east by China.

Afghanistan's national animal is the snow leopard. The snow leopard is a bright cat found in Central Asia, the Himalayas, and Tibet. Snow leopards are significantly smaller than other big cats. Their skin is covered in dark rosettes. The snow leopard's characteristics make it suitable for cold climates as well as rocky and steep mountains. The snow leopard is a predatory and opportunistic animal that feeds on nearly any meat source it can get its hands on, including carcasses and domestic animals.

Although there is no obvious reason why the snow leopard is Afghanistan's national animal, sources claim that the Afghans' courage and bravery are like this snow leopard. Snow leopards are much smaller than other types of leopards. Their skin is white, yellow, and greyish, with small dark spots on their heads and necks and larger areas on their backs and sides. The abdomen is white, with pale green or grey eyes. This animal's body hair is thick and dense, ranging in length from 5 to 12 cm in various parts of the body. The snow leopard has a body length of 75 to 150 cm from head to tail, and the size of length of its tail ranges from 80 to 105 cm. This animal's fangs measure 28 mm in length, and it weighs between 25 and 55 kg.

The snow leopard's characteristics make it suitable for cold climates as well as rocky and steep mountains. The short front leg and the extended hind leg, for example, aid in movement on steep slopes, and large toes are ideal for driving in the snow. Their tails are extremely long, which helps them balance and wraps around their bodies in the cold. The large nose and chest are ideal for breathing the thin, cold mountain air, and the long, thick hair with thick woolly skin keeps the body warm.
