Rahul, who made his international debut in 2015 with a century against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground, is the only Indian cricketer to score 100 in a major ODI appearance. Moreover, he holds the unique qualification of being the first batsman to score a century at number four or lower in a T20I.

Furthermore, Rahul became the first foreign player to score a Test double century at the Super Sports Stop at Centurion. Surprisingly, he has scored seven of his eight Test matches at distance, proving his ability to perform in difficult conditions. He is also the second Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to score a Test century in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) after Rishabh Gasp.

Rahul's move to middle order

KL Rahul has since proved himself a versatile player in different roles, scoring a century in centurion support. He is now focusing on the middle order position in the team and has proven his worth with match-winning performances. His Test return in South Africa was a surprise, as he played as a master wicketkeeper-batsman for the first time, underweight. Starting at 92/4 on a difficult pitch, Rahul played tirelessly and unhindered. His counter-attacking tactics kept the score moving and he capitalised on his chances skilfully despite the difficult conditions. His ability to exploit open runs and take shots helped India to a competitive score.

Rahul's combative batting included a hundred scores, including a six, which earned him praise from former India coach Ravi Shastri, who called it Rahul's best Test match hundred. KL Rahul continues to be a key presence in Indian cricket due to his flexibility and ability to adapt to different teams and situations.
